2/20--JBS 36, Principia 19
14 of the 16 players on the C/C1 roster played in the season finale against Principia. Both teams played zone defense, which limited the scoring. The Bombers finally revved up the offense in the 4th quarter, scoring 14 points, to lock down the win. Luke Purcell's 3-pointer at the buzzer, in his final basketball game in a Burroughs uniform, provided a season-ending highlight. Final record: C1 team 7-2, C team 9-7, Overall: 16-9.
2/14--JBS 44, Lutheran North 43
After dropping a close contest on Tuesday, the Bombers rallied to win another nail biter on Friday against the Lutheran North Crusaders. The two teams were never separated by more than 5 points throughout the contest. The Crusaders led by 2 at the half, and the Bombers led by 3 after three quarters. A key moment in the 4th quarter was a drive to the bucket by Titan Hills. He was fouled on the play, and when the Crusader defender protested the call, he was hit with a technical. Hills made three of four free throws to give the Bombers a lead they never relinquished. Turnovers in the final minute threatened to give the game away, but a steal by Luke Purcell in the final seconds sealed the deal. Whew! This was a much-needed win for the Bombers with just one game left in the season.
2/11--University City 47, JBS 45
After blowing out Lutheran South, the Bombers faced a much better team in U-City (season record, 15-3). The Bombers struggled on both ends of the floor early, falling behind 14-8 after one quarter. Switching to a zone defense helped the cause, but the Bombers still faced a 9 point deficit at halftime, 28-19. The second half was a different story, as the Bombers found some success driving to the hoop. Point guard Shannon Seals had his best game, scoring 9 points. Titan Hills also had 9, while Tyden Nunn and Joey Esposito tallied 8 points each. The Bombers even had a one point lead late in the game, but the Lions hit a three to go back on top. A desperation heave by Esposito at the buzzer didn't fall, and the Bombers lost another close one. Next up is Lutheran North, whose lineup and playing style is similar to University City.
2/7--JBS C 54, Lutheran South 24
Hard work paid off for the Bombers as their tough full court man-to-man defense resulted in a blowout win. The Lancers couldn't handle the pressure and scored only 10 points in the first half. Meanwhile, Sayid Simpson crashed the boards on both ends, Evan Tang, Chris Evans, and Will Heffner hit 3's, and the Bombers exploded for 34 points in the first half. The Bombers took off the press in the second half, but Shannon Seals stuck to the Lancer's best player, #30, like glue, and their offense never got going. This was a good win for the C Bombers, who will face tougher opposition next week.
2/6--JBS C1 44, STL Patriots 31
The highlight of this game was a breakout performance by Ayokunlemi Ajakaiye. He led the team in rebounds, and he scored a season high 6 points. Luke Summer regained his shooting touch and also scored a season high,19 points. The Bombers started fast and led 10-4 after one quarter, and 21-12 at the half. They continued their pressure defense and consistent zone offense in the second half, leading to the final score. The C Reserves record now stands at 7-2, with one game left to play in their season.

2/4--Vianney 48, JBS C 43
The Bomber scores by quarter: 1st--4; 2nd--9; 3rd--12; 4th--18. Meanwhile, Vianney scored between 10 and 14 points in each quarter and won the game. Chris Evans kept the Bombers reasonably close in the first half by hitting three 3-pointers. Luke Purcell (7 points), Titan Hills (8 points), and Tyden Nunn (12 points) fueled the 2nd half comeback. In the end, however, the first half hole was too big to fill. The C Bombers will have to be more patient and avoid turnovers at the start of the game to be successful in the last four games of the season.
1/31--Westminster 50, JBS C 47
The game was a battle from start to finish, with Westminster winning in overtime. The Bombers man-to-man defense was effective against all the Wildcats except #21, Robson, who scored a game high 23 points. The Bombers were led by Sayid Simpson, with 14 points, and Titan Hills with 11. The Bombers started fast, leading 13-5 after one quarter. They hit an offensive lull in the 2nd quarter, however, and trailed 22-20 at halftime. The second half was back and forth, and the teams finished regulation tied, 45-45. Robson took over in the overtime, scoring all 5 of his team's points. A desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer fell short, and the Bombers had to head home thinking about missed opportunities.
1/29--JBS C1 37, Priory C1 16
Chalk up this win to the C Reserves tenacious man-to-man defense. The Bombers held Priory to a only 5 points in the first half to take a 9 point lead heading into halftime. The offense caught fire in the 3rd quarter, highlighted by 3-pointers from Gabriel Miles and Luke Summer. Meanwhile, the Bomber defense continued to stifle the Ravens. The Bombers entered the final quarter with a 19 point lead and coasted to victory in the 4th. While the whole team played "tough D," Luke Buchanan was the toughest attack dog, contributing several steals and multiple rebounds despite being one of the shorter players on the court. Great win for the C1 Bombers!

1/24--JBS C 67, MICDS 22
The Bombers started fast in this game and never took their foot off the gas. Joey Esposito dominated on the inside in the first half, scoring 12 of his team high 15 points. The Bombers led by 20 at halftime and continued to extend their lead in the second half. Good defensive work by Tyden Nunn and various "helpers" held the Rams best player, Polce (#13), to 7 points (he scored more than that in the JV game). Luke Purcell had his best game of the season, scoring 8 points and playing tough defense. Miles Lin chipped in 4, including a bucket on a perfect pick-and-roll play. The C Bombers will face a more challenging opponent on Friday: Westminster.
1/23--JBS C1 33, STL Patriots 26
The Bomber played better than yesterday in the first half of this game, taking a 22-13 lead. A scoring drought in the 3rd quarter, however, turned the game close. The Patriots even took a brief lead in the 4th quarter before the Bombers rallied to close out the win. Will Heffner was the offensive star with 13 points. Point guard Shannon Seals provided defensive pressure, floor leadership, and 6 points to the cause. It was a good win, but the C Reserves need to play good basketball for all 4 quarters to defeat a higher quality opponent.
1/22--McCluer 39, JBS C1 29
The score was tied 20-20 under a minute to go in the first half. At that point McCluer scored two quick buckets to take a halftime lead. That surge continued into the third quarter, as the Bombers struggled to score. Chris Evans (12 points) and Rafa del Pilar (10 points) were the only players on the home team who could be counted on to put the ball in the bucket. The effort was there, but the shots didn't drop.
1/21--Pattonville 60, JBS "C" 39
The game was close in the first quarter, with Pattonville edging ahead of JBS, 11-9. After that, the Pirates forced numerous turnovers with their M2M full court press and consistently beat the Bombers down the floor in transition. The result was that Pattonville outscored the C team in every quarter after the 1st, resulting in the final score. Sayid Simpson led the team in scoring with 10 points and provided leadership and energy. Unfortunately, too many other members of the team did not match his spirit and energy level. The coaches are hoping for a better effort Friday against MICDS.
1/16--JBS C1 65, Logos 32
The C Reserves made great strides in this game, outscoring Logos 35-13 in the second half. Point guard Myles Williams had another strong game, leading the team with 21 points. In his first game for the reserves, Will Heffner poured in 14 points. Our "ultimate team mate" Gabriel Miles played great defense and contributed 6 points, including a beautiful knockdown 3-pointer in the 3rd quarter.
1/14--JBS "C" 55, Lutheran St. Charles, 40
The Bombers applied full court man-to-man pressure at the outset of the game, and the home team could not handle it. The Bombers raced out to a 20-7 lead after one quarter. After the Bombers took off the press, however, their defensive energy seemed to wane. The two teams played close to even the rest of the way, leading to the final score. Chris Evans had his best game, scoring 10 points. Tyden Nunn chipped in 9, and all nine players in the lineup scored. The Bombers will face a tougher opponent on Friday, Miller Career Academy.
1/13--JBS C1 36, Lutheran South "C" 28
The Lancers were supposed to play the "bottom half" of their roster in the game, since it was scheduled as a "reserve" game. The played their whole "C" bench instead, but the Bomber reserves still came out on top. Myles Williams played an outstanding game at point guard and led the team with 12 points. Gabriel Miles was a total ballhawk on defense. Ayokunlemi played tough defense as well, and scored a key basket. This was a great win for the C Reserves!

1/10--JBS "C" 53, Priory 43
This game was also a tale of two halves (see previous recap). In the first half, the Bomber offense struggled against the Ravens aggressive 2-3 zone, and the defense gave up too many open looks for 3 point shots. The result was a 27-18 deficit at halftime. Switching to full court man-to-man pressure seemed to energize the Bombers, and the home team outscored Priory 16-4 in the 3rd quarter. The Bombers extended their lead in the 4th with relentless pressure that stifled the Ravens and led to some easy transition baskets. Priory also had no answer for big man Joey Esposito, who scored a game high 14 points. Sayid Simpson also had his way close to the basket, adding 12 points. Point guard Evan Tang chipped in 7 with some strong drives to the hoop. Next up, the C Bombers hit the road for an away game at Lutheran St. Charles.
1/09/2025--Francis Howell Central 40, JBS "C1" 25
This game was a tale of two halves. The Bombers, perhaps rusty after the long winter break (and snow days), struggled offensively in the first half and fell behind, 24-7. The team regrouped for the second half and actually outscored the opposition, 18-16. Rafael del Pilar hit two 3-pointers, and the Lukes, Buchanan and Summer, each hit one to lead the offensive surge. Friday's game has been snowed out, but the C reserves have two chances next week to get back on a winning track.
12/13--Lafayette 51, JBS "C" 40
This was a close game until the 4th quarter, when the Bombers ran out of gas. A strong 3rd quarter saw the Bombers overcome a five point halftime deficit to take a 37-36 lead. Tyden Nunn led the charge, scoring a team high 12 points in the game. The Bombers could not finish, however, scoring only 3 points to Lafayette's 15 in the final quarter. Errant shots and tired legs took their toll, but at least the Bombers battled to the end. The Bombers finished the "preseason" with a record of 3-3, not bad considering the strength of the schedule. Time to rest up, focus on academics (finals week!) and come back strong in 2025.
12/12--JBS "C1" 48, Logos 21
The C reserves dominated this game from start to finish. Luke "Microwave" Summer was once again hot from the outside, scoring 17 points, including three 3-pointers. Point guard Myles Williams was also hot from the outside, hitting three 3-pointers and 15 points total. Guards Luke Buchanan and Gabriel Miles once again played tenacious defense to limit the opposition's scoring chances. This was another "blowout" win for C1, but the players should not become overconfident. Tougher competition awaits after the Winter Break.
12/11--JBS "C" 37, Lindberg 32
"Defend and rebound and we'll be all right" (Rick Majerus) was the pregame quote, and it came true. The Bombers fell behind in the first quarter, 13-5, as the offense didn't click and the man-to-man defense couldn't stop Lindbergh's #22, Lorenzo. A switch to 2-3 zone midway through the second quarter slowed the Flyers down, but the visitors still maintained a 7 point lead, 25-18. Chris Evans hit a big 3-pointer in the 2nd quarter to keep the Bombers close. The Bomber defense really stepped up in the third quarter, however, holding the Flyers to just 3 points. Meanwhile, the Bombers 4-out offense started to produce results. Joey Esposito's high screens freed point guard Titan Hills for drives to the basket and dishes to the corner for buckets. The Bombers took a 30-28 lead into the 4th quarter and never looked back. Will Heffner hit a clutch 3-pointer late in the 4th quarter that helped the Bombers finish on top. This was a win to build on, as the Bombers take on another big school, Lafayette, on Friday.
12/7--Whitfield 52, JBS "C" 47
The C team fell short on the scoreboard, but they were not beaten in this one. While the Bombers never led in this game, they were never far behind. Any time Whitfield threatened to open up a big lead, the Bombers battled back. The coaches asked the team to "compete" in the pregame talk, and the players responded. Point guards Tyden Nunn and Evan Tang were both strong on defense and scored 16 and 9 points, respectively. Seven out of eight players in the lineup scored. Next week the C team should be even stronger with the addition of three players who were on the sidelines with injuries for this contest. They will be needed, since the C team will face two big school teams, Lindbergh and Lafayette.

12/6--JBS "C1" 37, Blue Knights 14U, 7
Tenacious defense held the the opposition to a single digit score. Luke Summer was on fire from the perimeter, hitting nothing but net on five
3-pointers. Point guard Myles Williams did a fine job of running the offense and scored on several drives to the basket. Gabriel Miles was the defensive star with suffocating defense that included multiple steals. This was a super start for the C Reserves!
12/5--Lutheran North 49, JBS "C" 42
Lutheran North beat the Bombers with a more aggressive defense than the Bombers could muster in this one. The Bombers led after one quarter, 10-5. Then the tide turned, as the Crusaders full court man to man pressure took a toll. Turnovers and errant passes helped North take a 20-18 lead at halftime. The pressure--and the turnovers--continued in the third quarter with the Crusaders building a 7 point lead. The Bombers closed to within 4 several times in the 4th, but they could never quite overtake the more aggressive team. One players who never backed down was center Joey Esposito. Despite facing a formidable shot blocker on North's team, Esposito continued to battle and finished with a team high 12 points. More of his team mates need to step up their game in the tournament finale on Saturday.
12/3--JBS "C" 50, Lutheran South 30
After a tight first half, the Bombers stepped up on both ends of the floor in the third quarter. They held the Lancers to 4 points, all free throws, while scoring 14 points on the opposite end. The offensive surge featured center Joey Esposito, who scored 9 of his 10 points in that quarter. Top scoring honors for the game went to point guard Titan Hills, with 12. Backup point guard Evan Tang chipped in 8 points, and 7 of 9 players in the lineup scored. Defensive intensity was once again the key to victory, however.
11/22--JBS "C" 41, Ladue 38
The Bombers won this game due to their defensive intensity. The 1st quarter was filled with undisciplined offense and turnovers, as the
Bombers fell behind, 9-6. The defensive intensity revved up in the 2nd quarter, with only a desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer giving the Rams a 1 point lead at the half, 28-27. The Bomber offense began clicking better in the second half, with Titan Hills, Chris Evans, Sayid Simpson, Will Heffner, and Tyden Nunn all scoring on drives to the hoop. The Bombers' 1 point lead after 3 quarters would extend to 5 briefly in the 4th, but the Rams wouldn't quit until the final buzzer sounded in this hard fought opening contest.
Special Note: Thanks to Luke P., Luke S., Luke B., Gabriel, Miles, Evan, and Ayokunlemi for volunteering to help out with the Unique Boutique Move-In after the game.
